I have a bird feeder with niger seed for the finch which they love and about 6 - 8 feet from that is my hummingbird feeder. The finch are feeding at the niger feeder then pop over for a drink at the hummingbird feeder and back for more seed! Is this unusual behavior? or bad for the finch? I'm thinking of taking the perches off the hummers feeder............I just don't want the finch taking sweet water if it's bad for them. HELP! :)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Susan

There are many species of birds that enjoy sugar water in addition to hummingbirds. Don't worry, it isn't harmful to House Finches or any other bird. If you don't want them feeding just remove the perches as mentioned.
